LE MARCHE

The area of the halles became too narrow to contain the merchants and stalls, overflow to invest the nearby squares. It runs all year round on Monday morning and hosts up to 150 exhibitors in the summer. There are regional products, fresh products, clothes, fabrics, and objects of all kinds…
L’ESTACADE
Read moreIn Grenoble language, the Estacade is the railway bridge that spans the Cours Jean Jaurès. This is where the city's largest market is held, along the Avenue de Vizille. It is therefore at the Estacade market that you can find the best products. The choice is vast, especially at weekends, and you should go to the very end of the market, after the crossing of rue Nicolas Chorier, to meet the small producers with impeccable products. In rainy, snowy or windy weather, you will appreciate being sheltered from the railway line, which passes just above. And then there are the little bistros around. Open from Tuesday to Sunday, the market par excellence in Grenoble.

PLACE SAINT-ANDRÉ

Place Saint-André, also known as "place du trib" (in reference to the former Palais du Justice), offers a magnificent backdrop with the former seat of the Parlement du Dauphiné, its impressive dimensions, its cafés with terraces and its blue granite floor. On this pedestrian-only square, every day except Monday (as elsewhere in Grenoble), there's a farmers' market featuring products from the Isère region, including several organic producers. It's a friendly little market where you can stock up on good produce.
PLACE AUX HERBES
Read moreIt's the market of a historic district. Place aux Herbes is an adorable square covered by a small late 19th century hall that welcomes every morning, except on Mondays, retailers of freshly picked fruit, vegetables and flowers. This market, between the working-class district on the Chenoise side and the shopping centre, a pedestrian area, is a little bit at a crossroads. On Friday from 3pm to 6.30pm the Isère mountain market is reserved for local producers only. Very pleasant, the many terraces on the square and around to have a drink before/after its market. Shops to complete your basket. A real meeting place.
