The Michelin Guide has just presented its France 2021 selection. A huge surprise for Marseille: Alexandre Mazzia's 3-stars, magnificently rewarded only six years after the opening of his restaurant AM by Alexandre Mazzia, thanks to a culinary identity full of audacity. This singular chef and former top-level basketball player knows what effort and sacrifice mean. Mazzia received this much-desired gastronomic recognition with great humility and did not fail to thank the collective work of his team. The Michelin Guide also awarded Mazzia a first star and the Special "Young Chef" Coline Faulquier's "Young Chef" award, from the Signature restaurant, also in Marseille. Also in the Cité phocéenne, 1-star for Lionel Levy, from Alcyone. On the other side of the Calanques, in Cassis, Dimitri Droisneau of La Villa Madie retains his 2-stars. In the rest of the Bouches-du-Rhône, 1-star for Alexandre Lechêne of La Villa Salone, in Salon-de-Provence, as well as for Mickaël Feval in Aix-en-Provence. In Géménos, Special Prize "Passion Dessert" for Yannick Piotrowski of the restaurant La Magdeleine - Mathias Dandine. Same distinction for Maëlle Bruguera at the Chateau de la Gaude in Aix. Among the "Bib Gourmands" 2021: L'Arlatan, in Arles; Le Bon Temps, in Sénas; Le Clos St-Roch, in Maussane-les-Alpilles; not forgetting L'Orphéon and Yima, in Marseille.
