You can find accommodation at all prices in Bali and the value for money in the tourist areas is excellent. On the other hand, when you leave the tourist areas, the choice is much more limited. Smaller hotels or guesthouses generally offer less comfortable amenities (bathrooms often have only cold water)

Hotels

Good and cheap. In the tourist areas, you can stay very well for less than 300 000 Rp. For this price, you will have a clean room, with private shower and fan, in a simple hotel that can be nice. If you want to have a pool and air-conditioning, you will have to go up to Rp 400,000, or even a little more

In this price range, you can find mostly losmen, a kind of guesthouse where you can rent one or more rooms in a family house for a small price

Comfort and charm. Here too, there is a great disparity depending on the place where you are. In Bali, the hotels in this category, at less than 600 000 Rp, are generally excellent. They offer all the western comfort (nickel bathroom, large rooms, television, air conditioning) and, in addition, they generally have a charm: small swimming pool, neat decoration, garden or tropical park... All this for the price of a basic hotel in France. These hotels are the specialty of Bali which has hundreds of them in the four corners of the island. This is why it is one of the favorite destinations for honeymooners

Luxury. Here is the type of hotel that will be the same almost everywhere! In Kuta, Legian, Seminyak, you will find all the major international brands: Mercure, Sofitel, Hilton ... You will also find very nice Indonesian establishments, less standardized, but just as charming, and even (very often) more authentic. There is no limit to the prices, which can reach heights (sometimes up to €1,000 for a heavenly room!); the prices of services and restaurants are in line with the size of the customers' wallets and are comparable to Western prices. These hotels generally offer a host of services and activities. Impeccable service and a dream setting at affordable prices for a wider clientele than the one that usually frequents palaces in Europe, since, in low season, the price of some luxury hotels starts at Rp 1 million

Campsites

There is no camping in Bali, as the island is so populated and provided with losmen (homestays).

It can be very economical if you are in a group or if you want to live a rather extraordinary experience... In any case, you should also know that in Bali, you can negotiate the prices of the rooms downwards in case of long stays

To be booked

In high season - mainly July and August - it is better to book if you don't want to end up with overpriced hotels - especially if you are with your family. Otherwise, you will always find good deals on the spot, but not necessarily with the level of comfort you want...

What's very local

Losmen means homestay. It is a Balinese-style guesthouse: a few rooms have been added to the family home and are rented to visitors for a modest fee. Often the courtyard of the house has a nice garden. Choosing this type of accommodation allows you to witness the daily life of the Balinese, who are very welcoming.

Smokers

It is generally forbidden to smoke in the rooms and inside the hotels. Take advantage of the outdoor areas or the balcony!
