LE MARCHÉ AUX BESTIAUX

Market

A huge livestock yard where buyers, boxes in hand, discreetly snatch up broutards, bullocks, beef cattle and other sheep, all from local farms (85% of specimens are sold). Open to the public and immersed in a joyous hubbub. In 2011, the auction saved the Parthenay market, once the largest in France. The principle: to raise prices rather than lower them. And don't forget to visit Le Pelican restaurant, a convivial buffet where you can enjoy top-quality meat products.
