JHANKAR CHOTI HAVELI
Read moreYou will find some Rajasthani specialties and a 100% vegetarian menu in this restaurant run by a Jain family. You can enjoy the pleasant garden in the shade of trees and the facade of this beautiful haveliin red stone. And if it is very hot, the air-conditioned dining room is quite pleasant too, although a bit dark. The limited menu offers a tasty cuisine, not too spicy. Indians and Western tourists know where to find quality at the right price and the tables are crowded at meal times.
PESHAWRI
Read moreIf the location of the ITC Rajputana hotel does not seduce at first sight, wedged between the train station and an elevated road, its restaurant Peshawri will quickly make you forget this inconvenience. The somewhat curious setting is probably reminiscent of the interior of a traditional house in the Peshawar region of northern Pakistan. Stone walls, wooden clerestories stretched with string, long wooden tables and upholstered stools. The interest lies of course in the plate. The chefs will prepare delicious North Indian specialties with a touch of spice.
PEACOCK ROOFTOP RESTAURANT
Read moreThis restaurant is so good and nice that the people who live in the Pearl Palace don't seem to take the risk of going to eat elsewhere. On the roof, where a magnificent wrought iron peacock looks down on you, the restaurant overlooks the neighborhood and the heights of the city. An impressive menu, a multitude of delicious and fresh dishes, a superb atmosphere, very good music, a smiling and really responsive staff, you will hardly find better in Jaipur for the price.
MILLETS OF MEWAR
Read moreIn height, the two rooms display two different atmospheres. On the first floor, coffee tables and mats on the floor, perfect for a cup of tea, lassi or a refreshing mint lemon slush. On the second floor, a few tables to enjoy the benefits of the restaurant's vegetarian cuisine. Here, no glutamate, as little oil as possible and fresh organic food. The varied menu offers salads, sandwiches, dal, curry all as healthy and delicious. Lots of choices also for breakfast. A very good address at any time of the day.
SPICE COURT
Read moreWe will not hide it, Spice Court is a restaurant for tourists. But... the quality is there, the setting is pleasant, the service is impeccable. The meal is taken in a large garden with, in the first part of the evening, a traditional show. From 9pm, the Indians take over the place, and the artists go home. The menu offers a wide variety of simmered dishes, perfectly spiced and tasty. A beautiful air-conditioned room welcomes the customers on hot days. Cherry on the cake, the owner speaks an impeccable French.
AMBRAI RESTAURANT
Read moreIt would be a pity to stay in Udaipur without having dinner at Ambrai! Bhaset Singh, the cook of the place, is none other than the former head of the maharaja and his experience allows him some remarkable fantasies. The dishes are meticulously prepared and served quickly. The enchanting setting is ideal for a romantic dinner. In the evening, the tables are lit by candlelight and before your eyes the city is reflected in the lake. We highly recommend Jahagisi Chicken, the unique house specialty. Reservation imperative in high season.
NAMASTE CAFE
Read moreYou'll have to climb several flights of stairs to reach the roof of this beautifully appointed little café. Mattresses on the floor covered with colorful drapes, large cushions, low wooden tables and carpets, that's the setting. Prefer the tables at the back which look directly onto the fort. The café offers an impressive menu with no less than 17 ways to prepare chicken! The service is a bit slow and nonchalant, but very nice. And the wifi works perfectly. A good place to rest for a while, on the terrace or in the room.
UMAID BHAWAN
Read moreThis restaurant is installed on the roof of the hotel Umaid Bhawan. You can eat there on the terrace, which is very pleasant in the evening when the weather is fine, or at lunchtime in winter. The address is famous for its tandoor cooking, the clay oven in which meat and naans are roasted, which take on delicate smoky notes. The very varied menu offers a large choice of vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes. But it is a bit expensive, even if the quality is good. To note, there is a pleasant little bar on the first floor that allows you to extend the evening.
JAISAL ITALY
Read moreThis is a charming restaurant where you can enjoy good Italian cuisine. Whether you sit inside on cushions, amidst colorful drapes and traditional handicrafts, or on the outdoor terrace, you will be seduced by the enchanting setting. At night, you have a front row seat to the illuminated fort. You'll love what you have on your plate: lasagna, pasta, salads, soups, pizzas cooked over a wood fire. And not to spoil anything, the welcome is warm. Like a taste of Italy...
OM BABA ROOFTOP RESTAURANT
Read moreWith a small terrace, this restaurant offers a nice view of the bazaar from the cramped room on the second floor. On the roof, a vast space overlooks the whole city and a part of the sacred lake. The address is well known to travelers on a tight budget, many of whom come to Pushkar. They come here to have their meals or simply to rest during the day to taste a homemade lassi. They serve Indian dishes, but also pizzas and salads... The food is more than correct.
CHOKHI DHANI
Read moreThis is a good idea to leave for dinner in the very calm Jaïpur. In a reconstituted setting, this rajasthani village delights with its atmosphere, but also by its typical (very spicy) thalis. Dance, puppet and music shows, camel or elephant rides, every evening from until.
HANDI RESTAURANT
Read moreHandi delights lovers of grilled meats: tandoori, kebab, chicken or mutton tikka, butter chicken... Obviously, vegetarians will not be left out. All this is served in a "Rajsthan rural" setting with walls covered with dried and painted mud. The large, dark room behind a blackened window may seem unattractive, but these are the standards of "cool" in India. A good place to enjoy tandoori at lunchtime. This is exceptional, since the ovens are usually only lit in the evening.
AMBERWALLA RESTAURANT
Read moreLocated near the train station, on the main street, Amberwalla is a good place to try some South Indian specialties or to enjoy a hearty thali. Only good vegetarian dishes are served in this air-conditioned room. You will find there a local canteen atmosphere with a rather ordinary setting and an expeditious service, which does not seem to disturb the exclusively Indian clientele. For a small price, the Amber thali is an excellent choice, tasty and very nourishing. Restaurant not to be missed for the small budgets.
THE WHISTLING TEAL
Read moreIn the heart of the city, it's a little piece of paradise. At the bar, we sit on saddlebags. The restaurant is organized around a small green garden. The meal is served in tents, on mattresses with cushions and coffee tables. The room is also very pleasant with its varnished wooden tables and chairs with carved backs. It serves good Indian and continental cuisine, although not all dishes are the same. It's best to avoid soups, for example. There's no view of the lake, but never mind this time...
INDIAN COFFEE HOUSE
Read moreThis unpretentious dhaba offers very cheap South Indian snacks(masala dosa, idli, vada). The old-fashioned setting wonderfully recreates the India of the 1970s, just like the portrait of Indira Gandhi hanging in the main room that nobody has yet dared to take down. If the content of the plate is exclusively turned towards the south of the country, the waiters are turbaned in the Rajasthan fashion. The atmosphere here is relaxed and the restaurant is often full, because Indians are very fond of southern cuisine, especially at breakfast.
SURYA MAHAL
Read moreDon't let the unwelcoming entrance put you off, because this is a very good restaurant. Two large, dark, windowless rooms are always welcoming Indian families looking for a good South Indian vegetarian dish. Prefer the second, brighter room for a succulent potato and onion curry or a classic dal. Some rajasthani specialties are also on the menu. It is often full and you may have to wait for a table, but there are many and the turnover is fast.
OUT OF THE BLUE
Read moreLike most restaurants in Bundi, this one came out of nowhere and is located on the roof of a building. After climbing the steep stairs, you will enjoy a rather extraordinary view of the city. The chef, who trained in an Italian restaurant in Chennai, offers a menu focused on pasta and pizza. The result surprises positively: well-made sauces, crispy pizzas, pepper mill, hot oil and dried oregano. A good address if you feel like a change from Indian cuisine.
BAZAAR
Read moreThe restaurant of the Zone by the Park hotel, located in the north of Bani Park, serves many western and eastern specialties to satisfy its international clientele. But it also offers a short selection of Rajasthani specialties that are worth a visit. You will find them under the selection "khammaghani". Here, the gulab jamun is served in a savory version in a thick cashew sauce. If you prefer the non-vegetarian option, you can enjoy a tasty Shekhawati chicken.
1135 AD
Read moreThis restaurant located inside the Amber Fort will give you the opportunity to feast at the table of the maharajas. The overwhelmingly romantic setting lends itself to a romantic dinner. Whether you dine by candlelight in the courtyard when the evenings are mild or under the crystal chandeliers of the grand dining room, the splendor of the place is obvious. A tasty experience to recommend to all lovers. Beware, the restaurant is not easy to find. It is on the other side of the fortress. It is better to go by cab if you don't have a car with driver.
THE BARADARI
Read moreFaced with the gastronomic desert of the old city and the influx of tourists to the City Palace, the maharaja had the good idea to transform a courtyard of the palace into a restaurant. The menu is in the fusion mode, with a touch of spices and typical local products. You can choose between a beet and quinoa salad or a lamb curry served with millet and chard. If the flavors are perfectly balanced, we can only regret a nonchalant and not very involved service, especially since the prices are quite high.
