AÉROPORT DE PORTO (AÉROPORT FRANCISCO SÁ-CARNEIRO)

4.3/5
25 reviews

It is ultra-modern and rather small because it has only one terminal. There are many flights to France: Paris is connected to Porto several times a day by Easyjet, TAP, Transavia and Vueling. Ryanair offers low-cost connections to Porto from Beauvais (connected to Paris by bus) and various provincial cities: Marseille, Lille, Bordeaux, Saint-Etienne and Rodez. Easyjet connects Lyon to Porto, and Transavia also offers seasonal flights from Nantes.

ESTAÇÃO SÃO BENTO

Train
5/5
4 reviews

Porto's historic train station is an attraction in itself, with its magnificent azulejos that everyone comes to see. You will also see mosaics "inlaid" on the surrounding stones, a real work of goldsmiths. As far as transport is concerned, it is mostly suburban and regional trains that go north (Braga, Guimaraes...). A train connects it to the station of Campanhã every 20 minutes. Depending on the location of your accommodation, check which station is the closest... Luggage lockers are available, on the left as you enter.

FUNICULAIRE DE GUINDAIS

Getting around by metro
3.8/5
9 reviews

This funicular connects the Ribeira at the bottom of the historic centre, near the quays, to the Praça da Batalha, at the very top of the city, near the bridge and the cathedral of Sé. It is a very practical means of transport when you are in a hurry or tired. Above all, it offers a splendid view of the Dom Luis Bridge, the medieval walls of Porto and the different wineries of Vila Nova de Gaia. It was inaugurated in 1891 and renovated a hundred years later, in 1994. To be done at least once for the unique experience and its obvious practicality.

TÉLÉPHÉRIQUE

Funiculars and cable cars
3.4/5
13 reviews

On the docks, or high up, you won't be able to pass by without seeing these eggs hanging in the air, which give the decor the air of a ski resort. And yet, it is here in Porto that this cable car has been transporting its passengers since February 2011, from the Gaia docks to the Jardins do Morro at a height of about 35 metres. The tour lasts about 5 minutes, the view is sublime. Very practical for those who would be tired just by seeing the zigzag ascent to reach the summit on foot. Original experience to live.

Porto, the city of the famous wine of the same name, is full of wonders to discover. For starters, there's nothing like enjoying a glass of port in one of the many bars on the banks of the Rio Douro, while taking in the magnificent views of the colorful buildings that stretch along the river. A mini-cruise on the river is another way to discover the city from another angle. Then lose yourself in the city's old quarters and step back in time. Wine lovers can also enjoy tastings in downtown Porto, while those with more time can explore the surrounding vineyards. Locals also recommend discovering the city's street art on a free guided tour, as well as enjoying the many bars and restaurants on Rua Galeria de Paris and Rua Cândido dos Reis. Porto has a good public transport network, but it's also pleasant to get around on foot to discover the city's different districts.
