Of the Spanish archipelago off the coast of West Africa, Tenerife is the largest island, but also the highest since it is home to the Teide, the highest point inSpain, whose peak reaches 3,718 meters. Several million visitors come here every year to hike in the natural park surrounding the volcano, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It must be said that Tenerife is favored by half of the travelers - mainly Europeans looking for the mild African climate in the heart of winter - visiting the archipelago, because of the varied tourist offer: hiking, surfing, lounging, diving, whale and dolphin watching, fishing, canyoning, climbing, paragliding ... Santa-Cruz de Tenerife, capital of the island and capital of the autonomous community of the Canaries, together with Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, is a modern and cosmopolitan city full of good restaurants and shopping, known for its carnival. But the Tenerife tourist guide will also take you to the four corners of the island-volcano, from La Laguna (UNESCO world heritage) and its picturesque villages such as La Orotava, Masca or Garachico, to the massifs of L'Anaga and Teno, in the north-west of the island, with their laurel forests, steep cliffs and black sand beaches. Whatever the season, it is always a good idea to visit Tenerife.

When to go to Tenerife?

When to go to Tenerife? In the Canary Islands, there is no low season as such because the weather is good all year round and temperatures oscillate between 20 and 30°C. However, the volcanic island tends to receive more visitors in summer, from May to October: the sun is at its best, the sea winds are fresh, and the water temperature does not fall below 20°C. As a result, the beaches are very crowded. The best time to go to Tenerife is, without a doubt, from November to April, because when our landscapes get cold, those of the Canaries are still basking in the sun. The event of the year is of course the carnival, even if it only lasts three days! The Santa Cruz de Tenerife carnival, declared of international tourist interest, is the second most important in the world after Rio de Janeiro. The festivities end with the traditional burial of the sardine, a fish that is burned around a good table. This event starts every year on a different date, in January, February or March. When to go to Tenerife? All year round!
