Crossed by the Seine and located west of Paris, the department of Hauts-de-Seine is famous for its European business district: the district of La Défense. It has been classified as a tourist zone by the ministry, which has given the possibility for shops to remain open on Sundays. The shopping malls of Quatre Temps and CNIT will welcome you for your shopping as well as for the rest of your Sunday activities. This being said, it is no less impressive to walk in the middle of a Manhattan-like landscape, especially if you have the opportunity to visit the Arche de la Défense : work of the Danish architect Otto von Spreckelsen, it is presented as a gigantic hollow cube covered with white marble, and to enjoy the view that it is the only one to make possible. Indeed, it is at the end of the historical axis that crosses all of Paris, passing by the Pont de Neuilly, the Arc de Triomphe, the Avenue des Champs-Élysées, the Luxor obelisk, and the statue of Louis XIV in the Napoleon courtyard of the Louvre. This destination also has a large number of green spaces. The many hiking trails, the banks of the Seine, as well as the forests, parks and gardens that encourage walking, are among the assets of the Hauts-de-Seine.
When to go to the Hauts-de-Seine? You can visit the Hauts-de-Seine all year round, with its castles such as Malmaison and the Château de Sceaux. In spring, don't hesitate to go along the large tree-lined canal, the large waterfalls and the water jets of the park of Sceaux have something to seduce the walkers. In summer, the Orangery hosts a renowned chamber music festival, the Orangery Festival. At the end of August, in the park of Saint-Cloud, you can attend the Rock en Seine festival, and in June, the Solidays festival, at the Longchamp racecourse, in the Bois de Boulogne.
The climate of the Hauts-de-Seine is virtually identical to that of Paris: degraded oceanic incursions create mild winters, with an average of 5.7°C, associated with an average rainfall throughout the year.
