Definitely one of the best restaurants on the island. Here the emphasis is on fish and seafood specialities, cooked in the Thai way or simply grilled. The local products are fresh, the preparation and cooking of the dishes, carefully presented, are perfect. Open kitchen. The setting is charming, with subdued lights and wooden furniture. We dine here with our feet in the sand. Courteous and professional service. Remember to book in high season.

This small establishment on the sidewalk of the promenade, with plastic chairs, is frequented by the locals, and for good reason: the food is excellent. Fish, shellfish, seafood, you can take a look at the well-stocked display before making your choice. The dishes are made to order for Thai palates, so don't forget to specify "phet nit noi" if you don't want it to be too spicy! A treat. The Kitchen is one of the best known restaurants in Chaweng, having opened in 2007 and now has over a dozen restaurants in Samui, Bangkok, Phuket and Pattaya. The restaurant overlooks the main street and is an ideal place to quench your thirst and eat. The food here is very good but it is difficult to choose because of the wide range of dishes on offer. Thai or international, you will not be disappointed (the menu is available on the website).

A single-storey building in the immediate vicinity of the Hadthong Hotel, with a large, pleasant terrace overlooking the waterfront. The establishment offers decent seafood and fish specialties at affordable prices, though more expensive than its neighbors. The food on offer is of uneven quality, with Thai dishes to be preferred. Service is decent. The location along the promenade is its main quality, and in the evening the atmosphere is pleasant for a drink, while listening to local musicians.

When you arrive by the port of Mae Haad, one of the first restaurants you see is Café Del Sol, run by Robert for the past twenty years. The cuisine is exclusively French and European: steak tartare, flank steak with shallots, pizzas, grilled meat and fish... Almost everything is home-made! The Hippo Burger Bistro offers 16 varieties of burgers, each more tempting than the next (blueberry, lamb, beef, pork, chicken, fish, vegetarian...), as well as some grilled meats, pasta and salads. It's very good, considering being on a small island in Thailand. Modern setting for eating on site, and possibility to take your order to go as well. You can accompany your burger with beer, wine or a cocktail, normal you will say, we are in Koh Tao!

This hotel restaurant is in keeping with the establishment, extremely cosy and warm, with wooden furniture. The menu offers Thai and Burmese dishes, as well as excellent fish and seafood specialties. Myanmar dishes are a great discovery, especially since no other restaurant on the island offers them. The menu changes regularly, and the establishment is open to all! The cocktail menu is also of high quality. ODT is a good choice for a dinner party even if it's a bit expensive, but you should also think about having fun!

Right in the city centre, on the left bank of the Phetchaburi River and just next to the Chom Klao bridge, this nice little wooden restaurant with its old-fashioned decoration exudes a certain charm: background music, photos of singers hanging on the walls and a view of the river. Thai specialties at low prices. The proposed rooms have shared bathrooms and look like small cells! For (very) tight budgets only.
