One hour south of Paris, the Loiret invites you to visit its beautiful cities from Gien to Orleans and Montargis. Orleans is the ideal city to discover the Loire Valley and its castles which are less than an hour away. Visit the numerous museums, the Fine Arts, the Fairground Theater... The Orleans forest, the Orleans canal: the city has more than one asset to seduce nature lovers! Montargis, with its Briare canal and its beautiful Sainte-Marie-Madeleine church. The keep of the Beaugency castle, the Bellegarde castle, the Bussière castle, the Chamerolle castle, or the Sully-sur-Loire castle proudly radiate an air of grandeur coming from a conquering and chivalrous past. When to go to the Loiret ? All year round, you can visit and admire the magnificent castles of the Loire, the museums and the different monuments. The Loiret is a real cultural mine. During the fishing season, the river, other rivers and canals of the department are the meeting place between fishermen and their prey. From September to February, the hunting is done in all the fields assigned to its practice. Walkers, horse riders and cyclists can enjoy their sport all year round. During the summer season, you can enjoy the 180 hectares of the Puits pond which has been developed for sports and leisure activities related to water.

The climate is said to be warm temperate. Temperatures are not extreme, i.e. neither torrid nor freezing. The climate of the Loiret is of a degraded oceanic nature, which means that it brings mild and humid summers as well as equally mild and rainy winters. As a result, the average temperature is between 16 and 18 °C in summer and between 3 and 4 °C in winter. The humidity is absolutely characteristic of the department.
