This foodcourt on Ponsonby Road is like the whole neighborhood: hip, creative, upscale and very popular. There is a small organic market, a flower store, a cheese shop and a large choice of restaurants: a creperie, a good Japanese restaurant, a noodle bar , as well as the very good Dante's pizzeria whose chef comes from Naples (which we recommend in another article), a good burger restaurant and also the excellent Bedford Soda & Liquor pub. All of these kitchens emphasize freshness and quality.

This pub was the second establishment in New Zealand to be licensed and is the oldest tavern in the country still operating in its original premises! The square room has retained some of its old features and displays many period photos. The atmosphere is quite classy without overdoing it and attracts the local employees. The food is more refined than that of a classic bar but still draws its inspiration from British and New Zealand cuisine. There is a nice wine and beer list.
