Sicily is first of all the breath of an emblematic volcano: Etna, the highest volcano in Europe and one of the most active in the world. At 3,350 metres, he discovered his four gigantic summit craters in clouds of sulphur. Its fluid lava flows that no longer reach the summit rise halfway up the mountain and destroy everything in their path. The Sicilian way of life is opposed to this hallucinating spectacle. Villages with narrow streets full of mauve and pink bougainvillea, flowering laurel and lemon trees that descend to the blue waters of the Mediterranean. The white terraces of the cafés where you can enjoy an "iced granita" in the intense sunshine. Sicily is also rich in all the populations that have succeeded one another, endowing it with an original and fascinating architecture: Greek temples of Selinunte, Syracuse and Agrigento, Arab-Norman palaces and Byzantine churches in Palermo, medieval villages perched in the mountains. All adventures are possible in Sicily: for vulcanology apprentices, art and architecture enthusiasts, gastronomic amateurs and curious oenologists, sun and beach lovers, every adventure is a journey and one dreams of discovering more and above all of coming back! Between history and architecture, volcanoes and regional parks, lazing around and swimming, Sicily offers a pleasant climate and a range of fascinating activities. The surrounding islands are precious satellites: the famous seven Aeolian Islands with the luxury of the rich Panarea or the eruptions of Stromboli the volcanic, or the archipelago of the Egadi Islands. Everyone will find in Sicily a reason to marvel according to their temperament and desires.
