NUR CARPET & KILIMS

Decoration store

Doan (pronounced "dooan") is a figure in his field: large, perfect francophone (student of the famous Lycée of Galatasaray), he likes chatting and laughing but he is especially helpful and honest. A lover of France, most of his clients keep contact with him and don't hesitate to remind him on a second trip. If you're interested in the sprawling world of carpets, stop telling him hello. You will certainly not regret it.

GALLERY ARTEMIS

Gifts and souvenirs

Two shops face each other. The first one is devoted to carpets, kilims and embroidery, while in front of you there are ceramics, pashminas, narghilés, tea services and beautiful clothing. Ask to see the small wool mobiles in Kurdistan, hanging on the wall. Decorated with boncuk boncuk (blue eye) or a protective mirror, they are nice gifts that are not found in other shops. Modern and friendly welcome. The mascot of the place is a wall eyes of the Turkish van.

ALATURKA KILIM SHOP

Antique shop €€€

Managed by Mr. Erkal Aksöy, it is certainly the most beautiful store in the whole Antique district. The whole building is decorated with furniture and objects for sale, placed as if someone lived there. The cellar is filled with wines, fruits are laid out on the tables, smells of little cookies are coming from the kitchen. The garden is full of flowers and a cat is asleep in the sun. There is nothing that looks like an antique store. There is a wide range of rugs and kilims. Mr. Erkal and his assistant Serkan speak English. To discover.

HATTAT KAMIL NAZIK

Arts and crafts

Focusing on his work, a man with a grey beard stands out from the street, behind a window. It's Mr. Kamil. Since the age of 7, he has been passionate about calligraphy but he had to wait until almost his retirement to devote himself entirely to it. Wide choice. As for the schedules: it is open every day, "it arrives in the morning, and leaves late"... Possibility of taking lessons. You can just come by, admire his work and see him at work, it's exciting. The writings are mainly verses from the Koran and proverbs.
