Situated in the Walloon region of Belgium, Binche has long seemed to live for just three days a year, to the rhythm of a world-famous carnival that is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The biggest in Belgium! But Binche is a dynamic town with many assets, notably architectural and historical. Its belfry has also been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1999. At the other end of the Grand-Place is the 12th-century Collégiale Saint-Ursmer. The town's park, surrounded by ramparts and home to the Saint-André chapel, makes for a bucolic and highly instructive outing. The Tourist Office also offers an augmented reality tour of the town.
