The school year has passed and you already want to take off? It couldn't be easier! The Nièvre is perfectly located halfway between Lyon and Paris. La Nièvre is three worlds: the vineyards of the Centre-Loire, the famous Nivernais canal and the magnificent Morvan Regional Nature Park. There is something for everyone, from epicureans to sportsmen and women to the family, everything is there, let yourself be guided!

Harvest time along the Loire river

Take advantage of the festive harvest period to discover the Centre-Loire vineyard 200 km from Paris. The shimmering colours of the hills overlooking the wild Loire will be the perfect setting for a weekend with friends or a romantic getaway. In the heart of Sauvignon, discover famous appellations such as Sancerre, Pouilly-Fumé and Coteaux-du-Giennois. To start your stay, take a tour of La Tour du Pouilly-Fumé and its innovative sensory experience. You will appreciate "Les 4 saisons de la vigne", a multisensory show. Then go to the Aroma Cellar to get drunk and feel the richness of the aromatic palette of these wines.

For those who will want new technologies, the Maison des Sancerre offers a very original 4D movie adventure. Sit down, put on your glasses and slip into the skin of a grape! We discover the slopes of Sancerre and the work of the winegrower down to the cellar. Obviously after such adventures a tasting is required and many winegrowers open their doors. In September "It's wine time" offers you original tastings! From Thursday to Saturday, the appellations of Sancerre, Pouilly and Giennois will present their wines in turn. On Thursdays by the beach, on Fridays in an unusual place and on Saturdays in the vineyards. The opportunity to discover these three appellations in a fun and original way. For an original evening, we recommend an outing to the heart of the Bertranges forest just a stone's throw from the Loire. In a charming house, a hot meal is served while listening to the "king of the forest" in concert to find his beautiful. Follow the Instant Nature guide in the moonlight to approach the slab plazas. And finish with an aperitif in the light of the lanterns! To recover from all these emotions, head for the salt cellar in Saint-Laurent l'Abbaye, a unique place that offers you natural relaxation. You are seated in a comfortable armchair, wrapped in a polar blanket, the soft orange light soothes you and the rustling of the salt fountain takes care of the rest. Relaxation guaranteed!

For the most gourmands, we move away from the vineyards to the restaurant La Fontaine Cavalier which is located north of Nevers. We love this delicious gourmet restaurant in an authentic farmhouse. For those who would like to enjoy a tour in the historic heart of Nevers to make a gourmet stopover, the Jean-Michel Couron restaurant is a beautiful address. Located a stone's throw from the beautiful Saint-Étienne church, this table showcases local products and the chef makes his own homemade bread.

Discover nature with your family

The Nièvre is also a territory for families, when you want to meet, share and experience. We do not hesitate to go back in time during a trip to the heart of the children's history book! A Gallic family day in Bibracte to experience the history of the Gauls who built this site, or to follow in the footsteps of Julius Caesar who finished his work on the Gauls War there after his victory at Alesia. Walk the many hiking trails of this exceptional archaeological site founded at the end of the 2nd century BC, on the summit of Mount Beuvray. Have lunch without a fork at the "Chaudron", something to make memories in Gallic dishes, we love it! Discover the Loire aboard the magnificent Mignonnette, a traditional wooden boat! We love the idea of letting go and enjoying the scenery. From the Leopold Sédar Senghor quay at La Charité sur Loire, several walks are possible, including a day with a tasting of regional products accompanied by wine from the Charité coasts. You can even sleep there! Looking for a moment of calm? A fishing trip to the fish farm of the Tala mill in Brassy allows you to test two types of fishing on 3 bodies of water: natural bait fishing and fly fishing. The opportunity to taste its fishing for budding adventurers. For those who want to get active, get on your bikes and follow the cycle route of the Canal du Nivernais, recognised as one of the most beautiful tourist canals in Europe. This old towpath lined with tall trees takes you from Decize (Nièvre) to Auxerre (Yonne).

A gentle itinerant stay by the water's edge, suitable for the whole family. You can rent tandems, electric bicycles and children's bicycles and for the return trip you get on a train. When you no longer want to pedal, many visits are possible: visit an old abbey converted into a cultural centre in Corbigny or the castle of Châtillon-en-Bazois or follow the discovery trails around the lakes of Vaux and Baye. For parents, don't hesitate to treat yourself to a local beer in Clamecy: Les Bières du Donjon, created by two enthusiasts, offers us beers that rival each other in originality

A real breath of fresh air for athletes!

For those who are on the move, Nièvre has something to seduce you, Morvan is a large playground where sportsmen can have fun and vary the pleasures. Breathe in the fresh air you need by enjoying the shimmering colours of the gloomy autumn. The Morvan Regional Nature Park offers its many facets of forests as far as the eye can see, lakes and mountains. For hikers, there are many marked hiking trails. Among them, we have selected the Gorges de la Canche, a fairly sporty 14 km hike. Near the village of Roussillon in Morvan, go on an adventure in a National Biological Reserve made of a landscape that seems to us to come from a fantastic film! Mountain biking is not to be outdone, the Morvan is criss-crossed with tracks and trails with more than 2,500 km of marked trails! A huge playground for all levels. A family stroll, a sporty mountain bike for trail lovers, this "green lung of Burgundy" combines wild landscapes and itinerancy in the heart of nature. For the more experienced, the Grande traversée du Morvan is 330 km of altitude difference between Avallon and Autun. Bombs, boots and map in hand the riders will also be able to enjoy this magnificent setting with a Tour du Morvan on horseback. For a weekend or for the big tour that lasts 11 days... The big loop is 600 km in the Morvan Regional Natural Park. The varied landscapes allow you to enjoy magnificent views, to stop and listen to the rustling of a stream, but also to stop off at the thirty or so farms, inns or hotel restaurants in Morvan that have everything you need for your four-legged companion.
