Things to see and do South Coast

No need to climb up to Napa Valley, north of San Francisco, to visit vineyards! Here, 13 domains open their doors and their shops to visitors and buyers. The wines are less known, but equally good.

Very visited, in a huge area of hills and lakes, this schedule of the San Diego zoo leaves on the day, on large expanses, animals from all regions of the globe. There are several ways to explore the park: in a safari car, in a van, or still hanging to a Tyrolean. As the park is ecologically engaged, part of its profits are returned to endangered species defence funds.

One of the most popular beaches and longest, therefore ideal for walks in the sunset. A paved path runs on the beach, 2 miles of Mission Bay to Pacific Beach.

This magnificent ranch of over 10,000 ha is a transition between the coast and the Anza-Borrego desert. First a Kumeya 'ay land (the land where it rains) of Indians, it is then that of the James Lassitor ranch in 1857. She also knew the era of the Gold Rush from 1869 to 1892, when he found the most important filon in California. It was only in 1923 that businessman Ralph Dyar dismantled the Stonewall Mine and the small town that grew around. Ranch became the property of the state in 1933 and serves the park.

Famous for its observatory, it also offers campsites. In the main building you will find information on walking, on both campsites and on horse trips. Next to the hotel is the little Indian Museum (open daily from to, free entrance). He teaches us a lot about the Indians and the past of the mine, where you can visit the ruins in the park.

Ocean Beach has a wooden pontoon (pier) from where to watch surfers and fishermen. A hippie atmosphere and a family, a good place to bathe, walk (1 mile long) and walk his pet (part of the beach is reserved for them).

The beaches of Coronado are famous for their fine and brilliant sand. At the foot of the prestigious Hotel del Coronado is the main beach of the island. You will find more south of other less known beaches: Glorietta bay beach but Silver Strand State Beach on the thin earth net linking the island to the mainland.

Local surfers are located west of Point Loma Peninsula, south of Ocean Beach, to tease the waves.

Come to observe penquins emperor penguins and of the world in a reconstructed habitat. They are really crunchy. 

A flight simulator which will make you fly over, helicopter, snowy mountains of the Arctic circle before them pass close to. Guaranteed sensations.

Explore Atlantis world lost in a boat on rails which will take several metres high. It is almost like a roller coaster but also with water!

You guessed it: you can stand humid. Bring an outfit replacement of if the weather is a bit chilly...

Embark on the yellow rafts of Riptide Rescue to save turtles. You hang, that shakes!

Our favorite is the Saturday market. Every week, a long succession of stalls takes over Date Street, as rich in color as in smell. As well as fresh fruit and vegetables, there's a wide variety of specialities to eat: empanadas, crepes, raclette cheese sandwiches, oysters, lobster rolls... Nothing Italian! Once you've enjoyed your shopping on the steps of Amici Park, withlive music playing in the background, you can lose yourself among the stalls selling jewelry, plants, flowers and clothes.
