Reading a Hong Kong travel guide before a trip will tell you about the essence of the city: its energy and contrasts. From the skyscrapers of Central to the fine sand of Sai Kung, from the heights of the Peak to Victoria Bay, from the elegance of Hong Kong Island to the roughness of Kowloon : everything here is a cohabitation of several worlds in one. This "mixture of perishable works and eternal rock, of the movement of the waves and the waves of the crowd, of the immortal sea and the fleeting boats" (Joseph Kessel) is conducive to a change of scenery. The energy released by Hong Kong acts like a dopant on the traveler in search of new experiences. Its return to the Chinese fold has served as a detonator for Hong Kong's affirmation of its role as a political, economic and cultural vanguard. From being the jewel in the crown, it has become a special administrative zone. Faced with Shanghai, Hong Kong is seeking to distinguish itself from a mother nation considered backward in many areas. "One country, two systems". Hong Kong is bubbling, ambitious... And if it takes advantage of China's opening, it also wants to be multicultural, multipartite, multidisciplinary and multimodal.
