PETERSTONE COURT

Hotel €€€
5/5
1 review

A warm, characterful and gourmet stay in prospect. Peterstone Court is a grand Georgian manor house in the heart of the Brecon Beacons, with spacious rooms and a relaxed atmosphere. The former cellars have been transformed into a spa. And to complete the picture, the restaurant is one of the region's most renowned. The menu features top-quality local produce (almost all the meat and poultry come from their family farm) for stylish, efficient dishes. The sunday lunch is a must.

THE MANOR

Hotel €€
4/5
1 review

As its name suggests, this former mansion offers a list of arguments for a successful stay. Located in the heights of the city, the view is remarkable. Bourgeois rooms, imposing, carefully arranged, that take you back in time. A traditional top-of-the-range breakfast, just like the restaurant "The Everest Bistro" on the British menu, whose meat comes from the family farm. And to perfect everything, there is also everything you need for a wellness break with a heated indoor swimming pool, sauna, whirlpool, gym....

The must is the indoor swimming pool and sauna, offered to residents! Nothing better to relax after a good hike in the mountains or to keep busy if the day is too rainy! And to start the day off right, breakfast is hearty and very good! For those who are in vehicles, a private and free parking is available.

THE SWAN AT HAY HOTEL

Hotel €€€

The oldest hotel in Hay-on-Wye, which served as a post office relay at the beginning of the 20th century. It is a good example of Georgian style. Beautiful garden in which you can eat or have a coffee when the weather permits. The restaurant, awarded with two Rosettes, specialises in traditional Welsh cuisine. The living room, which offers a beautiful fireplace in winter, is very pleasant for tea and books. As for the rooms, they are superb, cosy and very comfortable. We soon feel good here and we would stay here one more night!

In March 2018, change of ownership for this 18th century house with a very flowery interior. From now on, Neal and Francesca will welcome you in this place. Installed on three floors, the rooms are pleasant and comfortable. Even if some of them are a little outdated. Some have their own bathroom, others have one to share, on the landing. The large family room has kept a nice fireplace. Good welcome from the owners, who will be happy to advise you.

CASTLE OF BRECON HOTEL

Hotel €€€

In the 17th century, the castle ruins were used to build a coach house. Two centuries later, the site was transformed into a hotel. Today, in addition to the historical aspect, the views over the natural park are spectacular. (extra charge for rooms with a view) The 38 rooms are functional, spacious and decorated in the British style: floral wallpaper, hunting engravings, four-poster beds... Some are quite romantic! You'll feel right at home, but the welcome may be less charming than in a B&B. Good on-site restaurant.

DRAGON INN

Hotel €€

An address that offers pleasant rooms and above all a restaurant that is worth a visit. The menu is distinguished by a local cuisine that does not exclude a bold blend of flavours. The starters are original: country pâté with red onion chutney, goat cheese breaded with apples and ginger, mushrooms with beer... In the main course, you can find the traditional meat dishes. We can also count on the excellence of a service that has preferred to limit the number of tables and rooms in favour of quality.

THE BEAR HOTEL

You immediately feel at home between the thick stone walls and under the oak beams of this former coaching inn. Lovely, romantic rooms. The hotel's rustic decor has retained an inn-like atmosphere. The restaurant has won several awards for the quality of its cuisine. Here you'll find local specialties based on local produce: beef, mutton and venison are all on the menu, marinated in the subtle sauces for which the chef is renowned. The menu also includes salmon and trout caught in the river Usk.
