You will find in this market a lot of treasures, handcrafted jewellery, old books and vinyls, vintage leather jackets and, of course, excellent street-food stands. The market is covered, a big advantage in rainy weather! A multitude of small bars and decoration shops surround the market. Historically, the name comes from the land around the hospital: Hospital Fields. Founded in 1682 by Charles II, the market became infamous when the first victim of Jack the Ripper was discovered there.
