Built in Art Nouveau style, this building is nicknamed "la bonbonnière" (the candy box) because of its shape. Inaugurated in 1902, it was then known as the Casino Municipal de Tunis. The Théâtre Municipal de Tunis is a major national and international stage. Over more than a century, it has played host to the likes of Sarah Bernhardt, Gérard Philippe, Jean Marais and many others. Once a month, it hosts a concert by the Orchestre National de Tunisie.
